Tee it up for a great cause at Killington Sept. 7

Killington Golf Course is teaming up with The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association to participate in the third annual Patriot Golf Day on Labor Day, September 7.

Killington will offer 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. shotgun starts on Labor Day at a special rate of $39, which includes greens fees, cart and a $10 donation to the Folds of Honor Foundation. The Folds of Honor Foundation provides deserving military families with educational support and opportunities, including post-secondary educational scholarships to the spouses and children of service members disabled or killed as a result of their military service to our great nation.

Golfers can register for Killington’s Patriot Golf Day by calling the pro shop at (802) 422-6700 or by visiting www.KillingtonGolf.com. Only 100 slots are available for the 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. shotgun starts. In addition, each golfer will also receive a free roundtrip K-1 Gondola ticket.

The Folds of Honor Foundation's primary fundraiser is Patriot Golf Day, the largest grassroots golf platform in the country. With the support of the PGA of America and USGA, Patriot Golf Day has generated over $3 million from more than 3,700 golf courses in just two years.

The inaugural Patriot Golf Day was held Sept. 1, 2007, and resulted in donations of more than $1.1 million from more than 3,200 golf facilities.  In 2008, more than $2.1 million was raised at more than 3,800 golf facilities nationwide. In the last two years, more than 550 educational scholarships have been given through the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Max3/5 Kids program pricing peek for 09/10 season

Over the past two seasons our Max 3/5 Kids programs have proved to be very successful by dramatically improving the way kids learn and enjoy our sport!

Since we introduce the programs for the 2007-08 season, demand has increased, especially during the holiday periods. In addition, the quality of the programs has received outstanding reviews from kids and parents.

Last week we mentioned that we would be modifying our Max 3/5 pricing for the coming season, while complete pricing information will be posted on our website at www.Killington.com next week, here is a sneak peak at pricing for the 2009-10 season:

First Tracks / Ministar / Superstar / Snowzone Programs:
 
• Full day non-holiday: $140 per day includes lift ticket (includes lunch)
• Half day non-holiday: $105 per day includes lift ticket
• * Full day holiday: $180 per day includes lift ticket (includes lunch)
• * Half day holiday: $140 per day includes lift ticket
 
Anyone booking 5 days or more will receive a 15% discount off of the per day price.  If a lift ticket is not needed for the Superstar / Snowzone programs deduct $30 from the rate. In addition, Unlimited Season pass holders also receive a 30% discount.

* Holiday dates are: Dec. 24, 2009 - Jan. 3, 2010; Jan. 16-18, 2010; Feb. 13-21, 2010

New Stash features for upcoming season

The second year of “The Stash” at Killington will see new hits, additional features and gladed terrain.

Rosey, Corey and the team recently started building, cutting and clearing areas of The Stash. “We’ve already thinned out the two top ‘secret’ entrances and we’re moving down to the area below the wall ride to thin that out next,” Rosey said.

In addition to thinning out areas, the deck on the Sugar Shack will be widened and “we’re putting in a new flat-down log and many other random features all over the place,” Rosey added. “We also added a new rock drop in the woods off the top entrance.”

Ride to Cure comes to Killington Saturday

The Ride to Cure juvenile diabetes comes to Killington this weekend with hundreds of cyclists conquering a 100-mile trek from Killington up Route 100 to Sugarbush and back. As of last week, riders have raised more than $1 million from this ride alone in the fight against juvenile diabetes.

Lower Max 3/5 prices, more accolades for family skiing at Killington

TheFamilySkiHub.com has recognized Killington Resort as one of the top 20 resorts in the country for family skiing.

According to TheFamilySkiHub.com, “This list is comprised of what we consider to be the premier family ski locales in the country. … The list was made up of several criteria: Quality kids' programs, variety of lodging, options for non-skiers in the family, a variety of ski terrain, and relative ease of traveling. In addition, we tried to have some geographical balance so people in most parts of the country could be within a short trip of one or more resorts.”

How do we make it easy for families at Killington? We have an entire lodge – Ramshead - dedicated to our Children’s Ski and Snowboard School and our very popular Max 3 and Max 5 programs, which matches kids up depending upon the age with just three to five students per instructor. In addition, for the 2009-10 season guests will see lower weekend prices on Max 3/5 programs, plus new half-day (both a.m. and p.m.) options. All children’s Ski and Snowboard School program prices for the 2009-10 season will be posted on our website September 1.

What else is happening here at Killington? Mowing and lots of it! We have already mowed and trimmed back Cascade, Escapade and Double Dipper as we prepare for the season. Lift painting continues and snowmaking upgrades are almost wrapped up. Plus, new Low Energy snow guns should be arriving any day.

K50 ticket launches anticipation for 2009-10 season

 

On Tuesday we launched a new ticket product, K50, for the 2009-10 ski and snowboard season that fits into, and complements, our existing lineup of ticket, card and season pass products. This is not a mass-market discount ticket, but a strategically-placed product aimed at value-conscious skiers and riders who are willing to pre-commit to the Killington experience for the coming season.

 

In addition, the blackout dates for K50 mirror those of our Blackout pass. However, Holiday window ticket rates do apply for Dec. 24 and 25, so the K50 actually offers a $32 savings off the window rates for those days as well.
