Summer construction and maintenance project are well underway at both Killington and Pico as we continue to improve the on-mountain experience.
The snowmaking pipe replacement on the Cascade Runout is nearing completion and a few of the new hydrants have been installed. This upgrade will not only allow for greater efficiency, but improved snow quality as well. Cascade Runout is always in need of snow, especially early season as we open top-to-bottom access off the K-1 Gondola and the Canyon Area.
K-1 Gondola cabin painting is also underway. We applied a new coat of paint to the cabins last year and another coat is going on this year. Installed in 1997 when it replaced the original Killington Double Chair, the K-1 Gondola enters its 13th season of operation for the 20009/10 season.
The unload area of the new Skye Peak Quad saw some light re-grading and is now complete. Lift painting projects will get underway in the coming weeks.
Crews are also busy preparing for summer operations. Rosey and the trail crew have been armoring the tread on numerous sections of trails throughout the 45-mile network. The Alpine Slide at Pico is almost ready to ride as crews put the finishing touches on the track and get the sleds ready for another season of sliding.
