Killington Insider

The weather guys and gals keep referring to a cutoff low pressure system spinning off the Atlantic Coast near Nantucket, Mass. as the reason for low clouds and cool temperatures throughout Vermont and the Killington Region. If you’ve been watching the U.S Open from Long Island or still drying out from your Father’s Day BBQ, you’re well aware of this particular weather scenario that they are referring too.
Now if this was December, January or February, we wouldn’t be too disappointed with this type of weather, which usually brings lots of snow in the form of a Nor’easter. However, being mid-June, we’re ready for some sunshine and summer temperatures.
Regardless, of the weather though, the newly renovated pool and pool deck area at the Killington Grand Resort Hotel makes for a relaxing, rejuvenating and refreshing way to swim, soak and splash away the weather blues. For instance, the heated outdoor pool varies between 88 and 92 degrees, while the hot tubs hold at a steady 104 degrees year round.
When the lifts stopped spinning in early May, construction crews went to work replacing the deck around the pool and hot tubs, refinishing the pool surface and landscaping the entire area. Work continued for the month of May and the completed pool, along with new patio furniture and poolside bar service from Ovations Restaurant opened earlier this month.
Now, all we need are some rays of sunshine!
April 2009, before work began,
May 2009, Digging out the old deck
May 2009, All the electrical conduit was replaced
June 2009, Ready for sunshine!
